Well, I still don’t have internet in my apartment, but I think I’m going to do something else than post a little stupid blurb of expletives for a change. ^^;
School started back up for the second semester this past monday. So far I’ve only had two days of school. Since Wednesday is my “prep day” until the community center adult English class starts in October I’m sitting in school right now writing an article for the community paper. Monday was the opening ceremony day for semester the second, so no classes that day. That leaves me with only one day of actually teaching classes so far but wow. What a work out.
The kids are great, no doubt, but it is a hassle and a half to get the older elementary school children to do anything but stare at me! I’ll be doing a self introduction class for a good while, and I’m fine tuning it as I go along. Unfortunately, a group of sixth graders just wouldn’t do anything. I’ll blame the heat. It was pretty hot in that school.
Speaking of heat, I couldn’t believe the uniforms the kids were wearing on the opening ceremony day. I was dying in my suit sans jacket, so I guess we get to suffer together? Totally brutal. Wasn’t surprised when I saw the kids completely informal at Tuesday’s school. But the thing that blew my mind was when all the girls started flapping their skirts up and down to cool themselves off. Apparently parents are aware of this happening and equip their daughters with gym shorts. Still threw my mind for a loop when about six first graders just started flapping their skirts like hell. I had to stifle my laughter.
