Being the industry leader in bringing you my opinion, I thought that it is only my duty to tap that booty. And then bring you a pointless list of my top ten games of the year! Sprinkled with nonsensical Honorable Mentions for the why not of it.
Enjoy!
Number Tenth

Despite having basically given up on the FPS genre, I was able to have fun for an albeit short while playing Halo 3 online. Then when I grabbed a second controller and had a buddy play co-op with me, I was able to actually finish an FPS game. That deserves some recognition, to be sure.
The Nizinth

Most of this list will be comprised of games so good that I couldn’t stop playing them Lunar Knights was almost that way. Some of its more annoying attributes, such as needing to leave a map and change the weather elsewhere to solve a puzzle, keep it from being one of my tops. But the smooth sweet action with two different play-style characters to keep things interesting made this a excellent ride.
Eightamatical

I never completed Puzzle Quest, but hell I bought it twice. (DS for portability and XBox Live for online multiplayer.) When I locked up my games so I would force myself to study for my Physics class I thought I could fail, playing Puzzle Quest was the reward I gave myself once in a while. It’s the sweet combination of puzzles and RPGs. And it’s such gaming crack that I have to stop myself from playing so I can do other things or play other games.
Honorable Mention:
Prettiest Piece of Shit

For as gorgeous as the game is, Odin Sphere lacks any qualities that entertain me. Fuck you, Odin Sphere.
Sweet Soul Seven

Etrian Odyssey can consume you. Will consume you if you enjoy dungeon crawling. Will unfortunately be put aside if you have any other games you want to complete. But you won’t regret your fling at all.
Me So Sixy

Only hated by those who cannot love, Super Paper Mario gives me that warm and fuzzy feeling all over. Not a pure platformer and not a pure RPG, it doesn’t manage to excel at either sides. It has its faults. But it excelled at entertaining me. And making me want to do nothing else but play it until I could play no more. And if a game can do that despite its flaws, it truly is a great game.
Give me your Five

This is what I was talking about when I mentioned games I couldn’t stop playing. The DS came with me to the bathroom. The DS went everywhere I had to go until I finished playing this game. The story was addictive. The game gave me a feeling I hadn’t had since playing stuff like Shadowgate back in my youth. I want more of this and I want it bad. I know it has a few different endings and I’ll be sure to replay it sometime to get them. But I still want new stories and new places to explore.
Honorable Mention:
The Sign that Remakes aren’t all Cash-ins

I’m blown away at the effort put into the DS edition of FFIV. Beautiful 3D aside they actually went into the core of the game and fixed up stuff, changed around abilities and even made the game more of a challenge. It’s almost a different game. But it feels so right at the same time. I look forward to more in the same vein.
Four Your Mother

The reason I bought a PSP in early 2004 came out late 2007. Whatever. It didn’t suck. That was amazing. And it brought tears to my eye. If you love FF7, you have to play this game. Not because it carries the FF7 name. But because it carries the FF7 soul and is the best possible prequel that FF7 could have gotten.
Third Furgeson – Not a Funny Name

I didn’t even want to play this game that much. I just saw it on the shelf and something in my head said “Aw, just give Mario another chance. He’ll be good to you this time.” And he was. I don’t have the urge to go out and buy other platforming games, but I do have the urge to finish this one up 100%. Something that rarely happens with me and non-RPG games. It’s just a joy to play. Nintendo did everything right with this one.
The Almost as Good as Number One

Originally going to be my number one game of the year, FES is just a sweet RPG. Dungeon crawling to the extreme and dating-sim-esque NPC interactions that intertwine with your stats. (YES! STATS! MMMMM STATS!) Its also got a sweet presentation that is just oozing with style. Its one school-year structure keeps you on your toes as you have to really manage your life to get anything done. With a solid challenge to boot, it never fails to keep the tension high.
Honorable Mention:
Game I Hate So Much It Transcends Time

International came out this year so I’ll count it. Fuck you all. Thirteen better not suck, goddamnit.
The Goddamned Best Game of 2007

Best Story. Best Music. Best Mechanics. Best Wiimote usage. Best Fucked-Uppedness. Best Trippiness. Best I-Don’t-Even-Care-If-It’s-Censored-A-Bit-For-Japan. Best Use of Toilets in a Game.
The best goddamned game I played in 2007 is sure as hell No More Heroes.

The number puns are funny, but wtf at the terrible arrangement? :(
I yearn to bring mystery to the world.
There’s enough mystery in this world without your nonsensical haphazard list arrangement. I suppose I should be happy that at least your GOTY list is in numerical order.
Man, we are just dying to get No More Heroes over here…I’m glad it was as awesome as the trailers make it out to be! And yes, I bought Puzzle Quest twice as well, and beat it 3 times. ::sigh::
