While a wholly unoriginal, but brilliant, idea, I will start making weekly logs of what I have been playing. I have gotten bad about making updates, and hopefully putting it to at least a weekly schedule will help get me in gear.
So, over the past week I actually finished two games, which is a sight to be seen.
First I finished On the Rain Slick Precipice of Darkness Episode 2.
While I enjoyed the first one greatly, I felt slightly disappointed with this one. Wanting to carry over my save data, I bought the Mac version again and am still confused as to why when presented with a device with over 100 buttons, only a few are used and most of the input is left in the hand of the mouse.
I loathe using mice and make as many keyboard shortcuts available as I can. Seeing that the Xbox 360 version obviously has button and controller input, why a similar route isn’t available I don’t know. Perhaps I’m the only one who loathes the mouse so much.
Other than that it was the same fun as the last time, but the final boss, which was a monumental challenge, yet still fun, in the last episode, was much easier this time around. I didn’t really check where the normal difficulty level coincided with the difficulty level of the first episode, but perhaps normal was not meant to be the same as last time. This of course would be my fault, but I don’t see that changing the final boss all that much due to the circumstances of it.
That all said, I did have a great time with it, albeit slightly less than the last one.
I also finished Order of Ecclesia, the newest Metroid-style Castlevania game of which I wish I could get on more of a yearly basis. I found the bosses much harder to get a handle on in this game and would say the majority of my gametime was spent trying to figure out the bosses.
There were quite a few that were quite tricky. The game was overly solid though and while I am happy to move on to new things, I almost want to go back and finish getting 100% of all the maps and items. Fiendishly addictive.
I have also been plugging away at Mother 3. I moved onto the fourth chapter a few days back and the game is finally starting to feel more like a Mother game. The first three chapters were a bit of a prelude, so perhaps that can attribute to the feeling I got from it, but I am at least having more fun than I was before.
