Square-Enix broke my heart with the release of Final Fantasy 12. It was one of the biggest disappointments I have ever had. I have kept myself quite ignorant on FF13 so I could just go into it and let it be what it is without any expectations. I failed at that. You can see the new trailer here. You may have to right-click and “Save as” to get the file. At least, I did.
Yep, I watched it.
And it was fucking awesome.
It gives me vibes of Final Fantasy X-2′s battle system. And a little bit of how FF4DS worked. I could spend time explaining it, but you should just go watch it instead. It’s also available on PSN and Xbox Live, if those things float your dingy. But be warned. You may find yourself rewinding and pausing the video to absorb as much information about the battle system as possible. I am thoroughly excited about this game now. It looks like a Final Fantasy game. From what was shown of the setting I get a bit of a FF7-ish vibe. I’m not sure why. It’s definitely futuristic, but it still has something else that I can’t quite place my finger on.
I think I am going to go watch it again.
