I cannot pull of a lot of moves with this stick.
Goddamn.
At least I have no pain in my thumb anymore. But still. Trying to get the most basic moves going seems like an exercise in futility. It makes my playing feel luck based instead of skill based. I think I need to keep up the practice but I really need to start timeboxing it so I don’t spend too many nights doing nothing but working on Street Fighter 4. I’m more apt to get sick of it if I do it like that.
Got a few wins in tonight but not much. Gonna go study a bit and try to get through Day 3 in Devil Survivor.

Eat. Shit. Die.
Some argue that is the sum of our existence. Keita Takahashi of Katamari Damacy fame decided to replace die with stretch and make an event out of it.

With my weight loss has come many a question from people that I see in my daily outings. They are genuinely shocked about the pounds I have shed. Some have asked if I am even sick. I think the most shocking thing is that they can’t believe that WiiFit is actually a part of my regimen.
Some want to think that’s the magic key, but it is and it isn’t.

Busy Eric means less game playing and less fleshed out posts! But basically it has been Street Fighter 4 when I am at home and Devil Survivor when I am out.
What I wish was made more obvious was the trial mode of SF4. It’s tucked away in the Challenge Mode, and while it is challenging, it shows off good combos for the characters which really makes them more fun to play once you have an idea of how to string together all those crazy moves it has given you.
Devil Survivor is getting hard. I just hit Day 3 and have been working on an available Free Mission to get enough money to get more demons for fusing to make some that don’t die in two hits. It can be a decent challenge but sometimes it feels like the enemy can heal too much. Considering this going rate, it’ll be a while before I finish this one, haha.

Gaming and Random.
Having read an article that basically says “Goddammit, video game RPGs don’t have enough choices.” I decided I would provide a transcript of one of my recent role playing adventures. Now mind, we were a little low on players this night, just me and the Dungeon Master, but hell, when you’re trying to play a real role playing game, you do what you can.
Transcript follows.

I failed the JLPT.
I would like to say I studied hard for it, but I didn’t. It’s fairly disappointing that I only got a 52%, but it’s mostly disappointing that I’ll have to shell out for the test again. Oh well, time to pick back up the books.
I did worse last night in Street Fighter 4 in terms of wins, but I feel I did better overall. I was pulling off more moves and was winning a round more often, even if I couldn’t win two in the same match. I heard I can get a decent stick for around ¥5000, which if I can sell a good chunk of my US games to this one store that carries imports should be nothing big. I’m mostly thinking of the investment for the sake of my poor thumb.
Devil Survivor has gotten pretty rough as I am nearing the end of Day 2. I have done one fight over at least five times already. I have to make sure two characters don’t die along with keeping my own team alive and this is proving frustrating. The one young woman is trying to run to a certain tile on the map to escape, and if I do not take care of enemies close to her fast enough they will get her. But she’s at least trying not to die. The other guy is steadfast in his belief that he will soon die so he keeps charging into everything and, well, dies. Doofus.
I’ve been kinda in the mood for a horror game, so I think Nameless Game will be my next venture when Devil Survivor is out of the way. Although with the rate I am going, that might be a while.

A large chunk of the skin to my left thumb has fallen off and now there is a blood red image to my inner soul for all to see. Look deep into my soul and you will see the shattered pieces of a warrior. Shattered pieces that are slowly being built up to more of their original parts. They may one day form a true fighter. Maybe even a Street Fighter.
But seriously, my fucking thumb hurts.

So, I was out getting dinner last night and picked up Street Fighter 4. It’s been a long time since I’ve owned a fighter that wasn’t Smash Brothers and my playing shows.
I lost several times on the easiest mode. Before I turned off the option to have other online players interrupt arcade mode play, I got into three fights that ended poorly.
I didn’t expect to be a master or even good, but it’s still kind of disheartening?

I can’t believe I’m actually considering it, but having seen Street Fighter 4 at stores this past weekend I almost picked it up.
Twice.
