Musings.
Well, it’s been a while since I wrote anything.
Last week was filled with winding down from the end of the school year and then the preparation for a nice three day vacation in Hokkaido. There are a lot of pictures forthcoming, and since I am so lazy with my photo taking as of late, I think I will use the Hokkaido pictures for a while until I can get my ass back in gear with all the things I’d like to be doing daily. Today was my first full Wii-Fit session in a while and I can feel a bit of ache that I haven’t in a while.
Summarized, time to get back in the swing of things.
Busy weekend! Gonna just bullet list this week’s stuff because there is a lot.
- Despite my hate of the Biohazard 5 demo, the game is actually really fun. Really, really fun.
- I still suck at Street Fighter 4.
- Game Center CX’s RPG Guardia Quest is awesomely old school styled.
- 7th Dragon is still hard as hell. Progress is minimum.
- Hit Day 4 in Devil Survivor and the game has really hit a stride. Having a blast with it.
- Mojipittan is a great puzzle game to play with someone else, especially if that someone is fluent inĀ JapaneseĀ and you are not. PSP version is what we played.
- Famicom Detective Club Part 2 is great to play with someone else, although if you are both easily scared progress may be slow at times. Shows that you don’t need zombies and monsters to be scary, just creepy music and a mystery does more than enough.
- I am tired.
Join me next week where I may actually do a real post for this!

Rants.
Goddammit.
Spring has sprung and along with it the legions of creepy crawlies that I loathe so much have began to leap forth from their damn hibernation to infest my home once again.
I clean, too! Lord do I even work hard to keep this place clean. But that won’t stop these little mother fuckers.
Goddamn do I ever suck at Street Fighter 4.
So as I may have mentioned earlier I swapped from playing Rose to Sakura. The transition has been painful. I currently have 0 Battle Points and I was at nine hundred some earlier this week. The losses haven’t all been with Sakura, in fact I climbed up that high with her after hovering around 400 for a while.
So what happened? I never got “good” at the game but I was definitely improving. Now, I can barely do moves that I used to pull off with ease. I’ve been practicing and playing but have been having very little luck.
Despite all this, it seems I keep playing. I haven’t gotten sick of the game and this is very surprising to me. Finally having something competitive to play that doesn’t cost me loads of money every time I want to play is really, really nice.
Well, time to keep up the good fight

Was working on Game Center CX and it seems I feel asleep. At least I was able to make some progress tonight. Continue reading ‘Workin’ on Up’
Busy week. School year is winding down but that does not mean work is. Got time in Street Fighter 4, Game Center CX and 7th Dragon this week. Continue reading ‘These Are the Weeks of Our Games – 03/15/2009′
I got a few good wins in Street Fighter 4 tonight. It’s becoming a bit of a discipline type thing for me. Relaxing properly during a ranked match significantly seems to increase my chances. I have to let go of that tension. Proper breathing is a necessity!
You’d think I’m doing something more strenuous than a video game.
But as it is a competitive game I really need to think of it in those terms. Only tonight did I notice that I was never really watching what my opponent was doing. Having started that, I feel like some progress has been made. Before when I lost I felt like nothing was happening. That I was just being destroyed. But now I feel like I am learning something every round.

Recently released in North America as Retro Game Challenge, GCCX just getting a sequel in Japan prompted me to pick up the original. This game is fiendishly old school and hilarious to boot.

Making that pretty logo is hard when I’m tired. But I played a lot this week. Still working on Devil Survivor and doing rounds of Street Fighter 4 here and there. Picked up 7th Dragon and Game Center CX: Arino’s Challenge and have been working on the two of them. Was really hoping to be done with Devil Survivor before 7th Dragon hit, but that didn’t happen. I have been swapping between the two though (Well, 3 if you include GCCX), and that’s helping me not feel sick of any of them. Continue reading ‘These Are the Weeks of Our Games – 03/08/2009′

Anyone who has ever played an Atari game should give Don’t Look Back a shot. Anyone who thinks games are capable of evoking feelings should also play it.
It’s a simple platformer with shooting elements. It has older than what we refer to as “old school graphics” today.
It’s one of the best games I have played.
