Sold a bunch of games to fund Final Fantasy IV Complete Collection which came out on Thursday. On top of that a friend of mine sold me The 3rd Birthday for quite cheap as he wasn’t having fun with it

Even though my area wasn’t really called for mass saving of electricity, I did keep it a little lower and mostly stuck to portables this past week.

Going to try a new format for a while. Feels a bit weird posting this with all that has been going on but it was written all up anyway, so may as well.

Simple and sweet this past week.

Amazing game. I loved the twists and turns the game gave me story-wise and was on the edge of my seat throughout the cutscenes. I heard complaints about the difficulty but Easy was just right for me. I’ve no shame in selecting the easier modes if I can get all the endings and stuff. Big bonus here is I want to keep playing on Normal now rather than giving up and selling the game out of frustration.

Super Mario Land 3: Wario Land
No idea why I started playing this. Cleared a few stages and it’s been pretty fun. It feels like they wanted to make a Mario-like game where they could throw a bunch of random ideas and see what sticks. A lot of it works really well.

I caught a bit of the Yugioh fever again, so I spent some time this past week thinking of what to do for the new banlist that starts tomorrow. Other than that, just two games this past week.

Doesn’t look like I’ll be beating this in February like I had hoped. That said, it’s been getting better and better story-wise and more ridiculous on the challenge front. I figured there would be alternate endings as this is a game by the Persona team, but I hear there are side-quests as well and I’m not sure how you’d actually do them. I think I may be missing something.

The World Ends With You
I popped this in for no reason and played with it a bit. Besides the grating music, the fact that I just haven’t gotten a hand of the battle system yet is putting this game a bit down for me. I’ll keep with it because I’ve heard so much good about it.

Whew, despite being busy I’m actually getting in some gaming.

Catherine
This came out of nowhere, really. Well, I knew about it but I mean I wasn’t expecting this game to be made. Even on easy, it’s been viciously difficult at times. The story has taken a few crazy, along with a few predictable, twists and I can’t wait to finish it. I’m expecting multiple endings. I have an itch, for the first time ever, to get all the trophies for this game. We’ll see how that turns out.

Final Fantasy Tactics Advance
When I’m waiting in the car for my wife I tend to crank out a battle or two in this. I really have no idea where the story is going, and I can’t stand how poor it is to manage your characters. But I keep going on with it because it’s easy to.

Magical Drop F
I bought this game with some spare PSN cash when there weren’t many games available (otherwise I would have bought an RPG I have never beaten!) I put it on my PSP and messed with some of the modes until I remembered there was an RPG mode available. Well, I don’t know why I say RPG, it’s more like an adventure game where you play Magical Drop once in a while. I cleared both of the story modes, and they were goofy, but fun.

Playing a lot of games really helps with trying to work on personal time management.

Mystery of Murasame Castle
Cleared castle 3. Finally. Of course, I quickly met my demise on the way to castle 4, but god bless the ability of the Famicom Disk System1 to save.

Rockman 10
I don’t know why I bought this and then didn’t touch it. It’s quite fun. I cleared all 8 boss robots and am now working on the Wily Stages. At one point I realized the game allows me to buy E cans. Rather, I knew it all along but I realized that I could play the game instead of struggling through it. Sure, it’s cheap, but if the game system is going to allow it, I’d be a fool to not take advantage when I’m having trouble. That’s a good life lesson there, kids. Take full advantage of all that is available to you. Life, and Rockman, need not be a struggle. But speaking of struggles…

Final Fantasy Tactics
I pushed hard to beat this game this past week. And I did! Holy mother of loving, it’s been thirteen years since I first started beating this game and it never happened no matter how many times I restarted. I always got stuck at the end of chapter three (when I made it that far) or gave up trying to get there. I’m going to give a full proper write up later this week, but sweet mother of all that is good, I am so glad to be done with this game.

Final Fantasy Tactics Advance
And yet I started playing this.

  1. Well, Wii Virtual Console. []

I think I did less gaming even with the tadoku contest over. Does this mean I need structure to my life? Oh no!

Mystery of Murasame Castle
I actually did worse when I tried to play this week. Having so much trouble in the third castle is really making me worry about how hard the fourth and fifth will be.

Final Fantasy Tactics
This game hates me, I think. Starting a battle with 2 characters dead and another one killed while I’m trying to clean up that mess is annoying. I thought I had done too much grinding, but the boss battles really can be ridiculous. Although it does seem that if I attempt to bother with any of the enemies other than the bosses victory is nearly impossible. Sometimes I wonder why I’m playing this game with how much it frustrates me, but finally beating it after so many years of trying is bound to be satisfying. I hope?

This is the last week of the reading contest I’m in. It looks like I’m going to place around fourth or fifth, which I guess is okay but I thought I’d have done better.

Anyway, I did a decent chunk of that reading via games. On to what I played! Continue reading »

Man, where is the time going. Getting old is crazy.

Xenogears
There is so much “…” and whiney dialogue in this game. Wow. But I’m almost back to where I got when I was in highschool. Once I get past the tournament fighting thinger it will be all new stuff for me.

When They Cry
I’m not sure if this counts as a “game” since it’s just text overtop of photoshopped backgrounds with hideous drawings of high school girls talking about who’s better at making lunch. So far. Apparently the mystery and suspense in this series gets pretty good. Free chapter (or more? I forget) was free on the iTunes store so I’m checking it out.
