Sold a bunch of games to fund Final Fantasy IV Complete Collection which came out on Thursday. On top of that a friend of mine sold me The 3rd Birthday for quite cheap as he wasn’t having fun with it

Sunday:
After finishing the 45 or so random games, we plugged in Shadowgate and I guided Alex through the beginning. Around 2:30AM we didn’t have much energy left so decided to nap. After waking I loaded it back up and finished the game. To this day it still scares me, but I sure do love it.
After that we tried to beat Rockman 2, but after trouble with Wily Stage 3, a slight jostle to the Famicom sent the game back to the title screen. We shut it off and played some X-Men arcade on the 360. With unlimited continues it was quite easy and after going through the game twice we

Monday:
Woke up and put some time into Rockman 10. Finally got through Wily Stage 2 but had my spirits crushed by stage 3.　Went looking at baby goods with my wife and in-laws and played some Mole Mania while in the car. Got up to the boss of World 3 and couldn’t really figure out how to beat it.

Tuesday:
Figured out the boss in Mole Mania! It took me a bit but once I figured it out I felt like a goddamned genius. Took a few tries even when I knew what to do, though.

Wednesday:
Played through a few screens in Mole Mania, no real progress. Wasted my night by downloading Dungeon Raid on my iPhone. Way too addictive. It’s Rogue, in puzzle form!

Thursday:
And I wasted my morning by playing Dungeon Raid throughout! Need some self restraint on this one! After finally prying myself away I worked on Rockman 10. Made it through Wily Stage 1 with easy and got through Stage 2 with only a little struggling on the area after the second mid-boss. The middle section of Stage 3 was so hard for me to get through, however. Finally, I managed to crank through it and found Stage 4 to be fairly painless. On top of that, the final Wily Stage and Wily fight itself was incredibly easy. Fifth game beaten in March!
Final Fantasy IV Complete Collection came although all I got to do was the data install.

Friday:
More Dungeon Raid. Worked on Mystery of Murasame Castle and finally finished the part before the fourth castle, which is what is now preventing me from progressing. The game is so hard. Played some Final Fantasy IV after that making it up through the Antlion fight.

Saturday:
Deleted Dungeon Raid. It’s far too much fun and I spent far too much time playing it. Well worth the $3 for that time spent, however. Other than that I pushed through Final Fantasy IV a bit more and got through the events in Fabul.

Even though my area wasn’t really called for mass saving of electricity, I did keep it a little lower and mostly stuck to portables this past week.

Sunday:
Plugged Donkey Kong ’94 into my GBA SP and cranked at some levels. Got to around the end of world 4 and called it a night.

Monday:
DK94 is getting harder. World 6 had a few stages that took me a few tries.

Tuesday:
When Alex dropped by to give me some files he had in the possession a Famicom cart which he bought while . With no label and marker scribbles here and there it looked like it contained some deep dark Ring-like curse. He seemed rather excited about the cart, and I mean who wouldn’t be glad to pass off a curse to someone else, right? When I plugged in the suspicious cart

Wednesday:
Played some Catherine again and got through Stage 2 on Normal. Had some problems with the start of Stage 3 though.
Cleared World 6 of DK94 and make it to stage 9 of World 7. At this rate I should probably finish it this week!

Thursday:
Plowed through Worlds 7 and 8 of DK94. A few of the stages in World 9 took me a while but it was the final boss that sucked up a good portion of my time. The big ape finally went down, though, and I cleared my fourth game this month!

Friday:
Messed around a bit with Catherine on Normal and got through one nightmare stage and a few stages of Rapunzel. Started playing Mole Mania and while I haven’t gotten that far, it definitely has a lot of neat things going for it. Still, I can’t help but feel that the game is just a little off in some way.

Saturday:
Headed over to Alex’s for a weekend of gaming. Started off with some Marvel vs Capcom 3 which I honestly don’t know how I feel about. The character line-up is a bit weird. After some back and forth we plugged in Dengeki Big Bang, better known as Clash at Demonhead and gave it a whirl. Good concepts going on here. Gave me a Battle of Olympus feel. Went to pick up Abel who was joining us for some gaming and picked up some packs of random Famicom games. Ended up spending the night recording us playing 2 minutes of each of them. Way too many to mention.

Going to try a new format for a while. Feels a bit weird posting this with all that has been going on but it was written all up anyway, so may as well.

Sunday:
Played some Wario Land while watching TV. Cleared a few levels but can’t beat the boss of Stove Canyon.

Monday:
Tried to get somewhere in Rockman 10 and didn’t. I can do Wily Stage 1 fine but Stage 2 is still giving me problems in the first half.

Tuesday:
This time in Rockman 10 i flew through Wily Stage 1. Got through a part of 2 that was causing me trouble but I can’t make it through the segment after that with the pilars coming down while you have to deal with spikes and moving platforms. Lost a lot of lives to the second mid-boss.

While the boss of Stove Canyon in Wario Land seemed hard, it was actually easy once I figured out how to damage him. By accident, no less. S.S. Teacup was cleared within a half hour. I got peeved by Wario’s inability to open a treasure chest if he isn’t wearing a hat.

I still haven’t quite gotten the hang of It’s A Wonderful World. I’m doing the pen motions I’m told to do for the magic and the dude walks around? And I still can’t pay attention to both screens at the same time.

Wednesday:
Beat Wario Land! the boss that was giving me trouble was quite harder than the final boss. Started up Wario Land 2 and cleared a few levels. Really enjoying it more than the first.

Thursday:
So you can’t die in Wario Land 2. Seems weird at first but it opens up a lot of different gameplay concepts that I really had to think about. Needing to get hit by enemies in order to proceed seems backwards but allows for some puzzle elements that I’m really enjoying.

Friday:
Let’s Playing video recording night! However, due to the events that occurred in Japan we were not quite in the mood for recording. Plugged in Double Dragon 3 and messed around with it and man, is that game not fun.

Saturday:
Played some Wario Land 2 while waiting for my wife as she did some shopping. Felt weird playing games and going shopping while the whole disaster is going on up north, but there’s really nothing we can do at the moment other than conserve energy and food. Finished the game though, and it was a complete joy to play.

Amazing game. I loved the twists and turns the game gave me story-wise and was on the edge of my seat throughout the cutscenes. I heard complaints about the difficulty but Easy was just right for me. I’ve no shame in selecting the easier modes if I can get all the endings and stuff. Big bonus here is I want to keep playing on Normal now rather than giving up and selling the game out of frustration.

Super Mario Land 3: Wario Land
No idea why I started playing this. Cleared a few stages and it’s been pretty fun. It feels like they wanted to make a Mario-like game where they could throw a bunch of random ideas and see what sticks. A lot of it works really well.

Catherine
Doesn’t look like I’ll be beating this in February like I had hoped. That said, it’s been getting better and better story-wise and more ridiculous on the challenge front. I figured there would be alternate endings as this is a game by the Persona team, but I hear there are side-quests as well and I’m not sure how you’d actually do them. I think I may be missing something.

The World Ends With You
I popped this in for no reason and played with it a bit. Besides the grating music, the fact that I just haven’t gotten a hand of the battle system yet is putting this game a bit down for me. I’ll keep with it because I’ve heard so much good about it.

The story has taken a few crazy, along with a few predictable, twists [...]

Whew, despite being busy I’m actually getting in some gaming.

Catherine
This came out of nowhere, really. Well, I knew about it but I mean I wasn’t expecting this game to be made. Even on easy, it’s been viciously difficult at times. The story has taken a few crazy, along with a few predictable, twists and I can’t wait to finish it. I’m expecting multiple endings. I have an itch, for the first time ever, to get all the trophies for this game. We’ll see how that turns out.

Final Fantasy Tactics Advance
When I’m waiting in the car for my wife I tend to crank out a battle or two in this. I really have no idea where the story is going, and I can’t stand how poor it is to manage your characters. But I keep going on with it because it’s easy to.

Magical Drop F
I bought this game with some spare PSN cash when there weren’t many games available (otherwise I would have bought an RPG I have never beaten!) I put it on my PSP and messed with some of the modes until I remembered there was an RPG mode available. Well, I don’t know why I say RPG, it’s more like an adventure game where you play Magical Drop once in a while. I cleared both of the story modes, and they were goofy, but fun.

Mystery of Murasame Castle
Cleared castle 3. Finally. Of course, I quickly met my demise on the way to castle 4, but god bless the ability of the Famicom Disk System1 to save.

Rockman 10
I don’t know why I bought this and then didn’t touch it. It’s quite fun. I cleared all 8 boss robots and am now working on the Wily Stages. At one point I realized the game allows me to buy E cans. Rather, I knew it all along but I realized that I could play the game instead of struggling through it. Sure, it’s cheap, but if the game system is going to allow it, I’d be a fool to not take advantage when I’m having trouble. That’s a good life lesson there, kids. Take full advantage of all that is available to you. Life, and Rockman, need not be a struggle. But speaking of struggles…

Final Fantasy Tactics
I pushed hard to beat this game this past week. And I did! Holy mother of loving, it’s been thirteen years since I first started beating this game and it never happened no matter how many times I restarted. I always got stuck at the end of chapter three (when I made it that far) or gave up trying to get there. I’m going to give a full proper write up later this week, but sweet mother of all that is good, I am so glad to be done with this game.

Final Fantasy Tactics Advance
And yet I started playing this.

I actually did worse when I tried to play this week. Having so much trouble in the third castle is really making me worry about how hard the fourth and fifth will be.

Final Fantasy Tactics
This game hates me, I think. Starting a battle with 2 characters dead and another one killed while I’m trying to clean up that mess is annoying. I thought I had done too much grinding, but the boss battles really can be ridiculous. Although it does seem that if I attempt to bother with any of the enemies other than the bosses victory is nearly impossible. Sometimes I wonder why I’m playing this game with how much it frustrates me, but finally beating it after so many years of trying is bound to be satisfying. I hope?

Another Code (Trace Memory)
I originally got this when it came out in the states, played for apparently ten minutes and then got distracted. I don’t know what happened to my North American copy, but I decided to play it in Japanese. It only took me six hours, which I did over the course of last Sunday. Some of the puzzles felt out of place but the story was really enjoyable.

Gyakuten Saiban (Phoenix Wright)
Got through the third case. Sometimes it takes me forever to figure out that I have to show piece of evidence X at time Y but at the very least I enjoy the story to this game so that’s what keeps me going.

Xenogears

When They Cry
I’m not sure if this counts as a “game” since it’s just text overtop of photoshopped backgrounds with hideous drawings of high school girls talking about who’s better at making lunch. So far. Apparently the mystery and suspense in this series gets pretty good. Free chapter (or more? I forget) was free on the iTunes store so I’m checking it out.
