but thanks to being able to continue right before a fight in case of defeat, progress was never lost

Sounds like Mystic Quest :P

I didn't actually name a GOTY, but thinking back now I would have to say Super Mario Galaxy 2.

Hi and thanks for the reminder.
This game was #1 in my wish list but for some reason I completely forgot to buy it.
Now I will wait for the US release I guess.
I played the demo though and loved it. This game has the flavor that Square had back then when they used to make great games.

Cheers,

That's a nice take on it. Surprising to see a game like this, where the player is shown mercy of a sort.

But once she's 18 in March, it's totally not pedo! So says the might US of A.

I was hoping you'd stop by to point me where I was wrong in my writing, but it seems I wasn't too off the mark.

My Olsen twin comment probably wasn't strong enough to make the point I was intending, but yeah, that "Up until her eighteenth birthday, you're a pedophile!" sentiment many seem to, if not at least mockingly, hold is quite ridiculous.

None of the girls are underage and no one is at harm here so I just really have a hard time getting upset about it.

Not to defend the sexualization of the younger group members (which does happen), but generally any of the more adult shenanigans like the Heavy Rotation video or this make-a-baby thing limit it to the girls who are 17 or older. (I know 17 skeeves ya out, rk, but in Japan that's their arbitrary line. In Canada our arbitrary line is 16, only recently increased from 14!)

It's made really obvious in videos like Ponytail to Shushu where some of the members are dancing around in bikinis while the younger members are fully clothed eating pizza or hitchhiking.

Won't disagree that they aren't very good role models, but that's the cult of celebrity for you. AKB will go away someday, but then there'll be another group of cute girls who can barely sing/dance parading around in their bikinis that all the kids will worship.

Yeah, the whole 〇〇〇48 thing is a crazy rabbit hole. I can see how some OCD guys would end up spending all their money on this stuff. They're just fiendish.

Every single has like three different versions, each with one unique song. Sometimes it's that mixed with versions that come with DVDs. Sometimes it's that plus a random trading card! How messed up is that! OCD guy needs to collect all the cards and he has to buy a CD (at Japan's CD prices...) just to maybe get that card he needs.

I am excited! I think! Why is it 0! Did Square forget what comes after 14? There is no Roman numeral for zero!

Thanks to blatant commercialism, Uncharted 3, to me, will always be that game where Nathan Drake buys a five dollar footlong from Subway.
